Tentative U.S. World Heritage Site Nominations Digg!
In hopes of eventually being placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the authorized representatives of 14 sites are vying for consideration to become the United States' next World Heritage Site.

This interactive map provides a photo and brief description of theses sites that are now eligible for nomination. Use the map below to learn more about each site. Or click here to learn more about the nomination process.

WHAT'S NEW

The U.S. Secretary of the Interior has narrowed the Tentative List down to two sites: Papahanamokuakea Marine National Monument, Hawa'ii and Mt. Vernon, Virginia. One of these sites will be the first new U.S. World Heritage nomination in more than 14 years! Submit your comments on these two nominated sites to Jonathan Putnam, Office of International Affairs at the National Park Service jonathan_putnam@nps.gov. Comments may be submitted between March 19 - April 3, 2008.
